Flight Office & Kitchen

Adelaide Biplanes has been based at Aldinga Airfield since July 2005. We started in the side of the hangar in the old 70’s style Flight Office, many of our aircraft are vintage and so we improved the inside of the hangar to reflect our branding.

A lot of the work has been done with the help of our students, their parents, Instructors and Pilots. For example, the Dad of one of our students is a Cabinet Maker. He has made our designs, then we have painted, rubbed down, waxed or finished as required. The internal corrugated walls are recycled from gardens in Willunga, then rubbed down with wire scourers and painted.  The Baltic Pine floor is from another student’s demolished house, laid down by the Instructors, rubbed down and oiled by us. Students have helped, and are now sharing in the end results!

We have awesome aerial photography. On the walls are huge canvasses portraying our aircraft flying over the local vineyards, stunning coastline and hills.

The Kitchen started for students, their families and the team to enjoy a great cappuccino.  It has grown to include visiting pilots, other airfield visitors, tourists and locals, and we love to see families visiting just like they used to…. to look at aeroplanes up close, watch students of all ages learning, enjoying the challenge, overcoming hurdles and achieving their personal goals without actually having to have a lesson or buying a scenic flight or coffee….all are welcome…..in this way…..we improve safety and discipline by involving everyone!

We homebake everything in our kitchen….just like ‘Mum’ used to do in her 1940’s kitchen….very simple.
