Tim Whitrow....Sport Cub First Solo
"The winemaking journey began when I was invited to go to Western Australia to work in a friend's winery, Cape Mentelle, Margaret River http://www.capementelle.com.au/appreciate.html for the summer and I fell in love with it! It didn't feel like work!"
"At 25, I had already trained as a Mechanical Engineer, gaining my degree in California. I began working as a Cellar Hand around McLaren Vale and studying part-time with NMIC (North Melbourne Institute of Tafe), http://www.nmit.edu.au/courses/bachelor_of_viticulture_and_winemaking and Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga for Oenology (Winemaking) course notes." http://www.csu.edu.au/courses/undergraduate/wine_science/
"Why flying? ....Even as a little boy I remember going to The Aviation Museum at Pt Adelaide http://www.saam.org.au/enginedisplays.html and trying to keep the moving dot in the circle on the interactive display simulator, a Complex Co. Coordinator, used by the RAAF for Air Crew Recruitment testing in the 1950's to test the co-ordination and reaction time for potential pilots. That began my passion with flying, then a Waco flight here at the Airfield a year ago."
"I started my flying in the SportStar, flew for 5 hours, then there were no SportStars available for training one weekend, so I asked if the Cub was free? From my first lesson, I just loved it! Going Solo? I was really nervous, but I remember thinking that if Martyn thinks that I am ready, then it is going to feel a bit lighter.....I can do this! And it was exhilarating!!"
Tim has been a Winemaker for Kay Bros, McLaren Vale for five years, http://www.kaybrothersamerywines.com/ and is now preparing to begin the vintage at Lavina Wines www.lavinawines.com.au Lavina Wine is available for sale through Dan Murphys and BWS in Australia and export overseas.
"I'll just keep going with it while I am enjoying it, and am now preparing for my Private Pilot Licence...."
